Carole Ann Metz, 81, of Rinard and formerly of Flora, passed away at 10:20 pm on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Carole was born on March 23, 1938 in Louisville, the daughter of the late Otis and Edna (Lewis) Erwin. She married Ralph Metz on July 2, 1958 in Lawrenceville and he passed away on July 18, 1974.
Mrs. Metz enjoyed was a longtime member of the Flora Church of the Nazarene. Carole fought a courageous battle with cancer and won. She was proud of the fact that she was indeed, a ten-year cancer survivor. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts with her grandchildren and attending sporting events. She loved the time spent with her family and made many personal sacrifices for them throughout her life. Carole’s children meant everything to her.
She is survived by five daughters; Jean Aceves of Vincennes, Indiana, Edna (Dennis) Major of Flora, Kathy (Richard) Valenzuela of Wheatland, Indiana, Donna (Chris) Leigh of Vincennes, Indiana and Sara (Chris) Wright of Rinard, a son; Robert E. Metz of Rinard, a brother; Robert (Gloria) Erwin of Cumberland Center, Maine, fourteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law; Marion Erwin of Dover, Delaware and by a special cousin; Marie Walters of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her parents and husband, Carole was preceded in death by two brothers, Taft and James Erwin, five sisters; Kathryn Colborn, Lenora Hackney, Berniece Griffy, Tommie Kurr and Juanita Marberry.
Memorial visitation honoring the life of Carole will be conducted from 5 until 7pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville.
