Ruth E. Miller, 94, of Salem and formerly of Kinmundy, passed away at 11:55 am on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at Twin Willows Nursing Center in Salem.
She was born on March 2, 1926 in Marion County the daughter of the late Guy Wesley and Madeline (Wells) Shaffer. Ruth married Leon L. Miller on July 6, 1946 in Alma and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2004. Ruth and Leon were blessed with four children. They lived and farmed in the Kinmundy area for many years before moving to Salem in 2001. Ruth was a member of the Brown Christian and Evergreen Christian churches.
Ruth is survived by a son; Edward (Terri) Miller of Kinmundy, a daughter; Vivian (Jim) Hale of Decatur, three grandchildren; Jay Cobb of Decatur, Becky (Marc) Reardon of Decatur and Beth (Ryo) Fujinuma of Japan, four great-grandchildren; Lily Reardon, Jade Cobb, Tori Cobb and Kazuo Fujinuma, a sister-in-law; Margaret Shaffer of Odin, and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a son; Terry Miller, a daughter, Sue Hammer, brothers; John W. Shaffer, Paul Shaffer, David Shaffer and a foster brother; Herbert Anderson, a sister; Wilma Vandeveer, a son-in-law; Frank Hammer, a brother-in-law; Herbert Vandeveer and by three sisters-in-law, Ruby Shaffer, Pearl Shaffer and Imogene Anderson.
Private graveside services honoring the life of Ruth will be conducted at Elder Cemetery in rural Kinmundy. Shannon Bopp will officiate. Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy is in charge of the care and arrangements.
