Stephan M. Wood, 64, of Louisville, passed away at 8:43 pm on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

He was born on August 8, 1955 in Flora, the son of Margaret Ann (Pierson) Wood and the late Paul L. Wood Jr.  He married Rosemary Ross on October 13, 1974 in Clay County and she survives.

Stephan worked for over 35 years for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department retiring in 2015.  He was a firearms enthusiast and was a proud member of the NRA, he also held memberships with the Amateur Trapshooting Association of America, Bible Grove Sportsman’s Club and The Clay County Regulators. Stephan enjoyed being with his family, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, cooking for friends and family and loved watching western shows and reading Louis L’Amour novels.

In addition to his wife and mother, Stephan is survived by two sons; Lucas M. (Rachel Wiseman) Wood of Flora and Blaine (Amber Horath) Wood of Louisville, a daughter; Shaun (Rob) Martin of Louisville, five grandchildren; Devin and Jessica Martin, McKenna and Aubree Wood and Holden McDowell. Four brothers; Bill (Bev) Wood of Flora, Don (Barb) Wood of Flora, Dave (Bev) Wood of Flora and Brian (Jody) Wood of Fairfield, one sister; Sarah (Robb) Bute of Harrisburg, several nieces and nephews including his “fishing buddies” Andy (Brandi) Wood, Quinton (Derrian) Wood and Dalton Wood and by several good friends.

Private graveside services honoring the life of Stephan will be conducted. Bro. Joe Smith will officiate. Interment will be at Shouse Chapel Cemetery in Bible Grove. Triplett & Neal Funeral Home in Louisville is in charge of the care and arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
